Tanzania Media Women’s Association - Zanzibar

TAMWA ZNZ is an abbreviation of a national level Non-Governmental Organization which stands for Tanzania Media Women’s Association established in 1987. TAMWA -Zanzibar became fully self - governing and operational in both Isles of Unguja and Pemba since 2004

The association in Zanzibar is constituted by more than 40 professional journalists accredited to various institutions largely media based. TAMWA Zanzibar has two offices in Unguja and Pemba led by its Director and it has full autonomy on implementation of activities and fundraising as speculated in the TAMWA constitution and the related documents

The organization is inclined to follow its Strategic Plan for 20I6 – 2020. TAMWA Zanzibar implements its program and activities focused on four strategic areas inclined with the mission and vision. The strategic areas involving addressing GBV and persistence gender inequalities; women’s social, political and economic empowerment; combating violence against children and especially the girl child; and institutional strengthening and networking
